  • belarus and Lida mission

    Since 2001, Pell City FUMC has joined with other churches in north Alabama to minister to the children of the Schola Internat orphanage in Bobruisk, Belarus. Our members sponsor individual children in the orphanage, and contribute to renovation, educational, and health projects benefiting the children. A multi-church team travels to Bobruisk annually to lead Bible School, provide eye examinations and eyeglasses, and otherwise minister to the needs of the children. We also help with a summer camp for older teens.


  • Nigeria school project

    Pell City First United Methodist Church has supported the Nigeria school project for the past two years.  We received a report from Yakubu Saleh, Principal of the Ethel Johnson Comprehensive Secondary School, Karim Maundi sharing the work that has been done since the school was established in January, 2013. Currently they have 131 students, 10 instructional staff and 18 non-instructional staff.  One of the purposes for which the school was established was to provide students the education that will enable them to acquire a trade.  We are a part of the churches which are supporting the continued development of the Nigeria school project.

  • Rhett thompson, panama

    Rhett Thompson is currently assigned by the Methodist Board of Global Ministries as pastor to the Evangelical Methodist Church in Panama. Rhett also serves a low income neighborhood through a day care program. He serves as the National Coordinator of Volunteers in mission programs in Panama. Some of the projects in Panama include construction and medical services. In addition, Rhett participates in a camping ministry which emphasizes making disciples of Christ through small groups. The camp team is designing and directing the construction of a new camp which will be ideal for small group ministry. Most recently Rhett has helped develop a rural health project which serves the Njobe Indians, who are the poorest of the poor in Panama. Rhett grew up in Alabama and was active in Canterbury United Methodist Church in Birmingham before accepting the call to become a missionary.

  • Keri ward, costa rica

    Keri is a new missionary in Costa Rica and began her journey by beginning Language School this past August and will continue her studies through April. She is living with a host family and will be immersed in the culture of Costa Rica while she learns the languageThe focus of Keri’s ministry will be discipleship and bible training in rural church congregations to expand their knowledge of scripture. She will reach out to the public school system in San Jose to form partnerships to help share the gospel. Keri will also invest in forming relationships with women in the local prison to help bring freedom, restoration and healing through a life with Jesus. Keri states in her communication with our church: “I am seeking the Lord for his vision in how to build one-on-one relationships and discipleship here In Costa Rica

  • Charlie and miki Chastain, Estonia

    With Estonia as their home base, the Chastains are making a huge impact all over Europe through prayer ministries as well as ministry to those who have found themselves as refugees from Syria.
